Civilizations have always experienced periods of rise and decline in their development. In their encounters with other cultures and civilizations, they must strive to safeguard their ideas, achievements, and cultural identities. The concept of the new Islamic civilization, first theorized by Martyr Ayatollah Khamenei, represents a revival of Islamic civilization that has attracted renewed attention following the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran. Within Ayatollah Khamenei’s intellectual framework, knowledge is the most important instrument of national dignity, progress, and power, while Islamic seminaries and universities are the principal institutions responsible for educating the country's future leaders. The central research question is: What role do Islamic seminaries and universities play in realizing the new Islamic civilization within Martyr Ayatollah Khamenei’s intellectual framework? The study hypothesizes that seminaries and universities play a fundamental role in realizing the characteristics and indicators of civilization-building. Using a documentary research method based on written library sources and online articles, the researchers examine the indicators of Islamic civilization in light of Islamic teachings, including faith, ethics, knowledge, justice, rationality, and striving. The findings indicate that, from the perspective of the Supreme Leader of Iran, seminaries and universities play a significant role in realizing the indicators of the new Islamic civilization, including God-centeredness, the pursuit of knowledge and rationality, creativity, the integration of knowledge and practice, forums for free thought, and the attainment of scientific authority.
