The rapid transformation of the field of Information Science and the evolving information needs of users have made the emergence of digital libraries an essential component of modern librarianship. Owing to their unique characteristics and operational environment, digital libraries require highly qualified professionals whose competencies extend beyond those traditionally associated with conventional librarianship. Digital librarians are information professionals with expertise in information retrieval, knowledge organization, telecommunications, and network technologies. By employing advanced digital tools and technologies, they provide specialized information services and facilitate efficient access to digital resources. This study aims to examine the characteristics, responsibilities, professional roles, and career opportunities of Information Science professionals within the context of digital libraries. Adopting a descriptive-analytical approach and drawing upon a comprehensive review of the relevant literature, the article explores these dimensions and offers a clear perspective on the evolving role of information professionals in the future of information management.
