The representation and retrieval of information in Islamic studies, particularly within academic and research institutions that produce a large volume of scholarly works, has become a fundamental issue in knowledge management. As one of Iran's leading institutions for the production of Islamic scholarship, the Islamic Sciences and Culture Academy (ISCA) plays a significant role in the creation, organization, and dissemination of academic knowledge. Nevertheless, an examination of its information management processes reveals a structural disconnect between content production and the subsequent stages of organization, indexing, retrieval, and dissemination. This study aims to identify and analyze the shortcomings in the representation of Islamic knowledge, with particular emphasis on the publications of ISCA, and to propose practical strategies for improvement. The research adopts a mixed-methods approach. Data were collected through documentary analysis, the author's professional observations and experience in information management, and interviews with subject-matter experts. The analytical framework is based on the concept of the Islamic information management lifecycle, together with internationally recognized principles and standards for knowledge organization. The findings indicate that the principal challenges include fragmentation across the information lifecycle—from content creation to dissemination—cultural and attitudinal barriers, the prioritization of knowledge production over information management, technological and infrastructural deficiencies, insufficient consideration of information management requirements at the initial stages of the research process, weaknesses in standardization and the absence of a shared metadata framework, as well as inadequate dissemination resulting in the isolation and underutilization of scholarly knowledge. Based on these findings, the study recommends making an information management plan a mandatory component of all research projects and scholarly publications, and proposes the establishment of a national network for the production and dissemination of Islamic content.
