The issue of science production as a serious and frequent demand from the scientific community in the 1980s attracted the attention of researchers, policy researchers, and policy makers to this issue. Although this concept originally meant scientific innovation that was associated with concepts such as "scientific innovation" and "ijtihad," its entry into the mental and cognitive system of the country's academic community established a kind of conceptual equality between science production and article production. So that article production was understood to mean the production of knowledge and its measurement index was considered the number of published research articles. Now the question is whether there is a conceptual equality between these two concepts and the unit of measurement of science production is article production? Do global indexes also label the number of articles in different countries under the title of science production? And in general, what is the unit of measurement and assessment of science production and what are its characteristics? The answers to these questions were pursued in the present article using a descriptive-analytical method and it was found that firstly, the relationship between these two concepts is not equality but rather an absolute relationship between the general and the particular. So that a research article is a production of science. Global indexes and specifically the Scimago database do not name the number of scientific articles of countries under the title of production of science. .
